Why does this matter?

The training helped scout leaders run their volunteer communities more effectively.
In the long term, this not only strengthens how the organisations work but also has a significant impact on young people’s development and community experiences.

What was the aim?

The programme focused on how to involve volunteers and keep them engaged in the long term.
The participants’ aim was to learn practical methods that help them:

  • build their own communities consciously

  • motivate and support volunteers

  • run sustainable volunteer programmes

The training placed special emphasis on the leader’s role: self-reflection, taking responsibility and building trust, which are key to a well-functioning community.

How did the programme work?

The three-day training followed a structured set of topics.

Participants:

  • learned the basics of volunteer management

  • developed a shared framework of thinking

  • developed the competences needed for everyday operation

Key topics of the programme included:

  • communication and feedback

  • conflict management

  • tools for motivation and recognition

  • strategic thinking

The training took place in an active, cooperative atmosphere throughout. Participants engaged openly in the tasks, shared their experiences with each other and worked on solutions together.

What were the results?

By the end of the programme, participants:

  • gained concrete ideas that can be applied in practice

  • see their own leadership role more consciously

  • can develop their communities with more confidence

Outlook

The experience of the training also provides important feedback for the organisers. Based on it, future programmes can be developed further and adapted even more closely to participants’ real needs, strengthening the role of volunteering in community life.
